Traces its history way back to 1784, when a small group of Mohawk (Six Nations) Loyalists left Upper New York State for a new post-Revolution life on the shores of the Bay of Quinte. Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, stretching east of Belleville toward Deseronto, celebrates its proud history each year with the Commemoration of the Mohawk Landing (May) and the Tyendinaga Traditonal Pow Wow (August).
