Ways to Get to Bay of Quinte Country


BY CAR

Speedy: Highway 401, Southern Ontario's main superhighway. Exits 509 - 582.
Slow but Scenic: Highway 2, the original Southern Ontario provincial highway.

BY TRAIN

VIA Rail, on Southern Ontario's main railway corridor. Stops at Trenton, Belleville (most frequent) and Napanee. Check schedule.

BY BUS

Greyhound Canada. Stops at Brighton, Trenton and Belleville. Check schedule.

BY BOAT

Lake Ontario: Sail/yacht to Prince Edward County. Enter the Bay of Quinte via the Murray Canal (from the west), or Adolphus Reach (from the south/east).

Trent-Severn Waterway: Sail/yacht from Georgian Bay, south to the Bay of Quinte on the Trent Severn Waterway.

Paddlers: These navigable rivers empty into the Bay of Quinte: Trent River, Moira River, Salmon River, Napanee River.

Four Gateways to Prince Edward County

  • From Brighton and Quinte West: Loyalist Parkway (Highway 33 South) through Carrying Place, the original site of Fort Kente (origin of "Quinte") and ancient portage route linking the Bay of Quinte to Lake Ontario.
  • From Belleville: Highway 62 South across the Bay Bridge.
  • From Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory: Highway 49 South across the Quinte Skyway Bridge.
  • From Greater Napanee: The Glenora Ferry, linking Highway 33 at Adolphustown to the Loyalist Parkway at Glenora, just east of Picton.

Sightseeing Alert! The Glenora Ferry is free and frequent, with stunning views of Adolphus Reach and the bluffs below Lake on the Mountain.
